I
would like to welcome you to the State of Alabama Department of
Veterans Affairs website. We are very honored and privileged to
serve those who wore our nation’s cloth and bore arms to defend our
country as well as the family members of these deserving
individuals.
We
will always strive to provide quality service in a
compassionate and professional manner. We have an
obligation to remind our fellow citizens and Alabamians that freedom
is not free. It came at a price paid with blood and sacrifice by
American Veterans like you and me. We must never forget that
many of our veterans made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that
America remains strong, democratic, and free.
The
State of Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs sole cause is
Alabama’s veterans. It is our mission to help fulfill President
Lincoln’s promise “to care for
him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow, and his
orphan." We must leave no American man or woman behind
on the battlefield neither will we leave them behind or stranded when
they return home seeking VA health care and their other hard earned
veterans benefits.
I consider everyday to be Veterans Day. The
Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs is committed to representing
all veterans and eligible family members' full time. I urge
all citizens to take the time to say thank you to our deserving
veterans for their service and sacrifice to this great nation as
well as future generations. Regardless as to whether our
veterans served in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Cold War, Gulf War,
Afghanistan, Iraqi Freedom, Global War on Terrorism or
other period of war, they deserve our respect and gratitude.
